Martinez's Late Goal Lifts Friars to a Victory

DALLAS, Texas -- Lucas Martinez's goal with under 10 minutes remaining secured Bishop Lynch's 3-2 victory over Prestonwood Christian Academy on Thursday night at Roffino Stadium. The win improves the Friars' record to 9-2-4 overall and 1-1 in district play while keeping their home record undefeated at 6-0-3.

The Friars started strong, with Geovany Flores initiating an attacking run down the right flank. Flores delivered a precise cross into the box, which Moises Bernabe one-timed over the goalkeeper's head, giving Bishop Lynch an early 1-0 lead.

Dominating possession in the first half with 59.8%, the Friars earned six corner kicks through relentless offensive pressure. One of those corners proved pivotal 11 minutes before halftime when Jack DeSmeth's delivery to the back post found sophomore defender Mark Andrade, who headed it past the goalkeeper to extend the lead to 2-0.

Bishop Lynch maintained their two-goal advantage heading into halftime, exuding confidence after a commanding first-half performance.

Despite increased dominance in the second half, the Friars faced adversity as two questionable penalty kicks awarded to Prestonwood allowed the visitors to level the score at 2-2 with 25 minutes remaining.

Unfazed, the Friars pressed on and broke the deadlock with under 10 minutes to play. Lucas Martinez capitalized on a rebounded shot from Flores, finding the back of the net to secure the victory. The goal was set up by another fantastic run into the box by Flores.

The Friars controlled the final minutes, and the referee's whistle confirmed their first district win of the season.

You can watch all the goals from last night's match below:
Bernabe: 1-0
