Friars Erase Fourth-Quarter Woes, Complete Thrilling Comeback Against Ursuline

DALLAS, Texas -- The Bishop Lynch women's basketball team has struggled in the fourth quarter of district games this season, but on Friday night, they put that label to rest by defeating Ursuline Academy 60-57 at the Jane Neuhoff Athletic Center.

Not only did the Friars score the most points in a quarter all season (25) in the final frame, but they also erased an 11-point deficit to secure a much-needed district victory. They accomplished this despite missing several players due to injury and illness.

One of the most beautiful aspects of sports is when players rise to the occasion under pressure. No one stepped up bigger than Lily Reyes, who was thrust into the starting lineup on Friday. The sophomore delivered a career night, scoring a personal-best 13 points, grabbing three rebounds, and recording three steals.

Fre Vowels needed to have a standout performance, and the junior guard delivered. She finished with 25 points on 50% shooting, collected three rebounds, and committed zero turnovers. Twelve of her 25 points came in the fourth quarter, reminding herself and TAPPS that she thrives in clutch moments.

Completing the trio of standout performances was Londyn Perry. Despite recent shooting struggles, the senior rose to the occasion in this crucial game. Perry went 7-for-12 from the field, finishing with 17 points and four rebounds. Together, Perry, Reyes, and Vowels combined to score 55 of the Friars' 60 points, including all 35 second-half points.
