Free Throws Haunt Friars' Home Opener

DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team dropped its home opener 48–41 to a strong Argyle squad on Tuesday night inside the Competition Gym.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well, as Bishop Lynch finished at 35.9% from the field while Argyle shot just 28.9%. However, 17 made free throws from the Eagles in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference.

Jeremiah Williams knocked down a three-pointer with 6:50 remaining to give the Friars a 34–33 lead, but Argyle responded by shooting 20 free throws down the stretch. Bishop Lynch held the Eagles to 0-for-3 shooting from the field in the fourth quarter, yet was outscored 17–10 in the final eight minutes.

Junior captain Jagan Thomas delivered another standout performance, recording his second double-double in two games. He finished with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting, 11 rebounds, and two assists.

The Friars hit the road Friday, November 21, to take on Crandall High School. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
