Friars Grab Another Clean Sheet, Improve to 2-0 on the Season

DALLAS – After a dominant 7-0 win in their season opener, the Bishop Lynch men's soccer team continued its hot start with a 3-0 victory over Grapevine Faith on Tuesday night at Roffino Stadium. Goalkeeper Diego Reyes earned his second career clean sheet, while the Friars' attack was once again led by Moises Bernabe, Geovany Flores, and Noah Chac.

Goals (Assists)
25' Bishop Lynch - Moises Bernabe (Nikolas Bartkoski)
37' Bishop Lynch - Geovany Flores (Bernabe)
56' Bishop Lynch - Noah Chac (Raphael Reagins)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Friars put together another dominant performance, controlling possession for 57% of the match while outshooting the Lions 27–1. Their attacking pressure also resulted in a 12–1 advantage in corner kicks.

After settling into the rhythm early, team captain Nikolas Bartkoski made a run down the right sideline, using some slick footwork to separate from his defender. His cross sailed perfectly over the Lions' keeper and landed at the feet of Bernabe, who buried his fourth goal of the season to make it 1–0 Bishop Lynch.

Twelve minutes later, Bernabe returned the favor. The senior forward slipped a through ball to Flores, who took a touch inside the box and fired a screamer past the goalkeeper for his first goal of the year, giving the Friars a 2–0 advantage before halftime.

In the second half, Chac added the final dagger. The sophomore received a pinpoint pass from freshman Raphael Reagins, took one touch between two defenders, and calmly slotted it home to seal the 3–0 win for the Black and White.

WITH THE WIN:
  • The Friars have started 2–0 for the first time under Head Coach Stewart Brown.
  • Bishop Lynch improves to 1–0–1 all-time against Grapevine Faith since 2000.
NEXT UP:
The Friars return to the pitch next Monday, November 10, as they host North Central Texas Academy at Roffino Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
