Friars Fall at Home for First Time All Season to Top-Ranked Lovejoy

DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch volleyball team dropped its first home match of the season Tuesday night, falling in straight sets to Dallas Morning News Class 5A No. 1 Lovejoy inside the Legacy Gym.

Lovejoy 3, Bishop Lynch 0 (25-18, 25-14, 27-25)

Junior Camila Figueroa led the Friars with nine kills on .139 hitting, while Maia Raleigh tallied 24 assists, nine digs, and one ace. Kylie Love added seven kills and six digs, and Charlie Wells recorded three blocks.

The Leopards (19-7) out-hit the Friars (14-7) .292 to .121, out-dug them 56-35, and held a 7-3 advantage in service aces. Bishop Lynch did control the net, however, finishing with five blocks compared to Lovejoy's two.

MATCH NOTES
» The Friars are now 1-7 against Lovejoy since 2009.
» Maddie Sue Pflum recorded her 150th career block in her 100th career match.
» Maia Raleigh has posted 20-plus assists in 14 of the Friars' 21 matches this season.
» Five Friars recorded at least one block.
» Katie Rebuck has gone 10 straight matches without a service error, converting all 74 serves during that stretch.

SUB-VARSITY RESULTS:
Bishop Lynch's sub-varsity squads battled hard against the Leopards but came up short. JV1 and the freshman team both lost 2-0, while JV2 dropped a close 2-1 match.

NEXT UP:
The Friars have the rest of the week off before returning home to host Hockaday (Sept. 8) and Liberty Christian (Sept. 9). They will then travel to Fort Worth to take on Nolan Catholic on Sept. 11.
