With a couple of long win streaks still active, Thursday's contest could pose the biggest threat to both when first-place Bishop Lynch heads to Prestonwood Christian, which stands just a half-game back.

The Friars (23-7, 4-0) dusted off another pair of district foes with wins at Parish Episcopal (25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19) and most recently at home Tuesday against Bishop Dunne (25-4, 25-17, 25-14).

Bishop Lynch has won 9 straight overall with its state-best district win streak up to 68 matches, dating back to 2015. Ironically, the last team to beat the Friars in district play – PCA – is the very team they face this evening. The Lions (21-5, 3-0) will host Bishop Lynch tonight at 6 pm, with the winner taking the pole position in the race to the district title.

The Friars will look to complete a perfect month of September (7-0) and reverse their fortunes on the road, where the team is 4-3 this season as the true road team. The next three for the Friars will be on the road, including Tuesday's contest at Ursuline Academy, before finishing the regular season with three consecutive home dates.

In the TAPPS 6A District 2 standings, Parish sits third at 2-1, followed by Ursuline (1-2), John Paul II (0-3) and Dunne (0-4). The Friars' next home game is Tuesday, Oct. 9 against Parish. 

• FRIARS 3, PARISH 1

Izzy Clavenna led the way with 21 kills, 10 digs, and 2 aces. Fellow senior Lauryn Green added 16 kills, a pair of blocks and 2 aces. Alex Galicia set 23 assists and served 3 aces while Harper McDonald hammered down 8 kills. The Friars totaled 56 kills and 40 assists. 

• FRIARS 3, DUNNE 0

Everybody on the roster got involved, led by Elizabeth Edwards' 10 assists and Harlan Miller's 6 kills and 2 blocks. Green had 10 kills, Clavenna added 6 and Shirly Huezo served 3 aces. The Friars had 10 aces in just three sets during the match.
