Tuesday's sweep of Bishop Dunne not only assured the Lady Friars would extend their season into the postseason, but also put the girls in sole possession of third place in the district.
Bishop Lynch (18-12, 4-4) used Tuesday's home game to play everybody in uniform and work with different lineups while roasting the Falcons (0-8) by scores of 25-4, 25-12, and 25-10. The loss eliminated Dunne from playoff contention, setting the field of five from the district that will advance. Seeding is still to be determined.
The Lady Friars hit a phenomenal .289 percent, getting five kills each from
Liberty Buckholt and
Lyric Berry, four from
Katie Blomberg, and three apiece from
Kendall Hardesty and
Emma Cuneo.
Alex Galicia tallied 17 assists and
Elizabeth Edwards added 12 while the team also totaled 11 service aces. Berry served up three while
Serena Earp,
Sydney Broussard, and
Jenny Canavan each had a pair.
Charlotte Hain led the defensive effort with 16 digs, Galicia and Earp each had seven, and Berry added six. The team had just 10 hitting errors and three serving errors.
Bishop Lynch heads to Plano on Tuesday for a showdown with Prestonwood Christian (22-7, 6-2) at 6:00 pm. The Lady Friars can stay in the hunt for the district's second seed with a win.
