DALLAS — Bishop Lynch will need a short memory following Friday's homecoming loss to Parish Episcopal, because the schedule won't get any easier the rest of the way. The Friars fell in a big hole right out of the gate and were dropped 54-14 in their district opener at Roffino Stadium.
Parish (6-1, 2-0) scored on its opening possession, then added another touchdown just 61 seconds later. The Panthers had a 26-0 lead at the end of the first period and 40-7 advantage at halftime. Parish quarterback Preston Stone accounted for five touchdowns (4 passing) and the Panthers scored a pair of special teams touchdowns, with a punt return score just before halftime, and a kickoff return early in the third.
Westin Walls pulled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from
Michael Light early in the second period and led the team with 50 yards on three receptions.
Darries Boyd was held to just 80 rushing yards but bulldozed his way in for a 17-yard touchdown (his 10
th of the year) in the third and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season. Boyd's score was set up by 76-yard kick return from
Isaiah Schmidtke.
Dillon Moncier,
Logan Monroe,
Ben Van Wey, and Schmidtke each had a team-high six tackles.
Ayden Howard totaled four tackles and 1.5 sacks. Van Wey had a half sack as well.
The Friars are home for the final time this Friday, hosting Bishop Dunne on Senior Night at 7:00 pm. The Falcons are 0-2 in district following last week's 11-overtime loss at home to John Paul II.
