Seniors lead Friars in 43-15 destruction of rival Dunne

DALLAS — Bishop Lynch honored its seniors prior to Friday's game, grabbed the early momentum during the game, and jumped into a tie for second place in the district at the end of a 43-15 demolition of rival Bishop Dunne at Roffino Stadium.

The win – paired with Prestonwood's loss to Parish and John Paul II on a bye week – put the three teams at 1-1 in league play. Prestonwood owns a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Cardinals.
The Friars (4-4, 1-1) head to Plano next week to take on Prestonwood (6-2, 1-1) with the winner most likely taking sole possession of second place. John Paul II (6-2, 1-1) travels to take on district leader Parish (7-1, 3-0).

Darries Boyd rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns, including TD runs of 19 and 21 yards during a span of 90 seconds to give the Friars a 14-0 lead midway through the opening frame. Boyd added a touchdown run in the second – set up by his own 54-yard run – and his final trip to the end zone came early in the fourth period. Fellow senior Ayden Howard put the icing on the Senior Night victory cake with a 10-yard scoring romp with 3:25 to play. Howard also had a pair of sacks in the game. Dillon Moncier had an interception, four tackles, and a 75-yard punt return touchdown during a 20-point fourth period.

The Friar defense forced three turnovers and held the Falcons to just 10 first downs and 130 yards of total offense. Bishop Dunne finished with 50 rushing yards on 31 attempts and completed just 4-of-19 passes. Roffino Stadium has proven a hostile host for the Falcons in their last two trips. The Friars have outscored Dunne by a total margin of 94-25 in the last two meetings at Roffino.
