After the first full week of district play, the Lady Friars find themselves in unfamiliar territory at the bottom of the league standings looking upward following Thursday's 3-1 home loss to Parish Episcopal. Bishop Lynch (14-10, 0-2) opened the contest with a 25-21 win in the first set but dropped three straight to the Panthers (2-0) by scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-18.
Sydney Broussard posted 25 digs and
Alex Galicia collected 21 assists.
Elizabeth Edwards added 16 assists while freshman
Lyric Berry notched a career-high eight blocks in the game, to go with six kills. Fellow freshmen
Leah Oyewole and
Avery Kinzer helped the attack with nine and eight kills, respectively.
Emma Cuneo also had nine kills along with four blocks.
The Lady Friars will have a chance to rise in the standings when they travel south to face Bishop Dunne (0-2) in a district match scheduled for 7:00 PM. The team returns home Thursday night to host Prestonwood Christian (2-0) at 6:00 PM.
