DALLAS — Bishop Lynch got into the district win column Tuesday, taking to the road for a sweep of last-place Bishop Dunne by scores of 25-5, 25-21, and 25-4.
The Lady Friars (15-10, 1-2) got nine kills apiece from the freshman combo of
Lyric Berry and
Leah Oyewole, who accounted for half of the team's 36 kills. The Lady Friars also served up 13 aces against Dunne (0-3), including four by
Sydney Broussard, and three each from
Jenny Canavan and
Emma Cuneo.
Canavan led the team with 19 digs and Broussard – filling in at libero for the injured
Charlotte Hain – tallied 18 digs.
Serena Earp had four digs.
Katie Blomberg and
Liberty Buckholt each had four kills, while
Avery Kinzer and Cuneo each had three. Oyewole (131) and
Emily Castleman (103) recently joined Berry with more than 100 kills this season.Â
The Lady Friars have an opportunity to move into a possible tie for second place when they host Prestonwood Christian tonight in the Competition Gym. The Lions (16-6, 2-1) will be looking to bounce back from their first district loss, a 3-0 sweep by Ursuline earlier this week.
