Box Score PLANO - The Friars held tough all night, but Prestonwood pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Bishop Lynch 38-14.
The Bishop Lynch defense played one of their best games all year on Friday night. As a group, they forced three turnovers, had two sacks and held Prestonwood's high octane offense to just 17 points through the first three quarters.
Joseph Lucas had a night to remember with two interceptions, one sack, four tackles and a great stop on the goal line.
With 3:06 left in the half, the Lions were looking to go up 24-7, but Lucas' second interception on the night gave the Friars life. A few plays later, quarterback
Cooper Alford found
Kason McFadden for a 60-yard touchdown to make the score 17-14, with the Friars having momentum going into the half.
As the second half started, BL continued to show they were not going away lightly. The Friars forced punts on Prestonwood's first two drives and moved the ball well with
Isaiah Schmidtke on the ground. The third quarter ended with no points by either side, and the Friars found themselves only down three points going into the fourth quarter.
Prestonwood's offense would come alive in the fourth, and BL's offense couldn't keep up, resulting in a score that doesn't match how close of a game this was.Â
Bishop Lynch still holds their destiny in their own hands. This Friday, the Friars host Jason Witten and the Liberty Christian Warriors in a crucial district matchup for both teams.Â
