Box Score PLANO - The Friars did what they needed to do to keep the district championship hopes alive as they swept John Paul II on Wednesday night.

Bishop Lynch had a pretty easy night overall against the Cardinals, except for the first six points. John Paul II came out on fire, scoring the first six points in the match, and quickly forced Coach Jenkins to take a timeout. Slowly, the Friars worked their way back into the game, going on a 22-10 scoring streak and taking the first set 25-20.

The second set started like the first ended with a big run by the Friars. The Cardinals would fight to stay close until the end when the Friars' defense turned up a notch, getting six total blocks in the set leading to a 25-18 set victory. With one of the more interesting stats of the year, hitter Paloma Gonzalez recorded three assists in the third set alone.

In the third and final set, Lauryn Lambert recorded six of her nine kills, and the Friars took the set 25-17 and the match 3-0. This win meant the Friars have won the season series over John Paull II for the second consecutive season.

Sub-Varsity:
The Friars went a total of 5-0 last night. The freshman team defeated both of JPII's freshman teams. The Junior varsity cruised to a 2-0 victory over the Cardinals and the sophomore team defeated Plano East 2-1 in their final game of the season. The sophomore team ended their campaign going a phenomenal 23-5 on the season.
