HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | Despite being out-hit 16-6 in the opening set, the Friars led from start to finish. Figueroa led the offense with three kills, while six different Friars recorded at least two digs. Bay Corrigan led the defensive effort with four digs, while Raleigh and Corrigan each added an ace as Bishop Lynch took the opening set, 25-22.
SET 2 | The second set was the most thrilling of the night and featured the highest combined score of any set for the Friars this season. The teams combined for 33 kills, but Bishop Lynch held the hitting advantage, .294 to .213. Raleigh continued to spread the offense around, with four Friars recording three kills apiece: Emory Mooney, Figueroa, Charlie Wells, and Kate Heffernan. The Friars eventually closed out the marathon set, 29-27, to take a 2-0 lead.
SET 3 | Legacy Christian refused to go quietly in the third set, taking advantage of the Friars' lowest hitting percentage of the night at .081 to stay alive with a 27-25 victory. Raleigh did everything she could to help Bishop Lynch complete the sweep, recording seven assists, two kills, and six digs in the set, but the Eagles battled back to cut the Friars' lead to 2-1.
SET 4 | The Black & White turned to its offensive leaders to close out the match. Figueroa recorded six kills, while Love and Wells each added three. Figueroa's six kills helped spark a dominant offensive finish, as Bishop Lynch hit .333 as a team — its best mark of the night — and recorded 14 kills. The Friars pulled away to take the fourth set, 25-17, and the match 3-1.
