TOMBALL - Bishop Lynch opened up the playoffs with one of their best games all year, defeating Concordia Lutheran 30-7 last Saturday afternoon.
Bishop Lynch was too much for Concordia on both sides of the ball.
Webster Walls led the defense with 12 tackles, two sacks and a touchdown, while
Isaiah Schmidtke ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
After electing to receive the ball at the beginning of the game,
Austin Schnurr found
Jeremiah Williams for a 38-yard touchdown, and the rest was history. The Friars would add another first-quarter touchdown when Schmidtke scurried for a 27-yard touchdown run after Walls and
Kelsey Caldwell combined for a sack in which the Crusader QB fumbled and the Friars recovered.
The score would be 14-0 at halftime, but it felt more like 28-0 with how BL was performing. To start the second half, the Friars' defense once again forced the Crusaders to punt. After a few good plays on offense, the Friars had to settle for a field goal, in which
Henry Nyhart split the uprights to make it 17-0 BL.
The next drive would provide the play of the game when
Kelsey Caldwell stripe sacked the QB, and Walls would pick up the fumble and return it 49-yards for the touchdown.
The Friars would add one more touchdown with Schmidtke's second rushing touchdown from 15 yards out.
