Box Score DALLAS - Bishop Lynch gets its first victory of the Coach Moats era with a 41-21 victory over Fort Worth Christian behind
Isaiah Schmidtke's four touchdowns.
Fort Worth Christian was able to strike first to make it 7-0 early in the game, but the Friars would answer quickly. Junior
Cooper Alford connected with
Juan Oliva for a 41-yard touchdown to tie up the game. After stopping the Cardinals on a fourth down, the Friars would punch it in on Schmidtke's first touchdown of the night, a 2-yard touchdown run up the middle. Schmitdke would punch one more in the first half to help BL have a 20-14 halftime advantage.Â
Whatever was said at halftime by the BL coaching staff worked. BL would come out on fire and score on their opening drive by the feet of Schmidtke, making it 27-14 BL. The Friar defense would force a three and out on the Cardinal first drive, with the help of a sack by
Lucas Westbrook. Fort Worth Christian would then botch the snap and the Friars would recover the fumble inside the 10-yard line. Staying true to form, Coach Millerick kept feeding his running back and Schmidtke would get his fourth touchdown on the night to make it 34-14 Friars.
The Friar defense would force a few turnovers on downs and
Daniel Ring would also add an interception the rest of the way in the second half. Senior quarterback
Austin Schnurr came into the game in the second half and in the fourth quarter, he connected with Oliva for a 34-yard touchdown, his second receiving touchdown on the night, to make it 41-14 BL.
This marked the first career victory for Coach
Brandon Moats and was the first win for the Friar football program since November of 2019.
