Friars lose shootout to TCA

DALLAS -- Bishop Lynch dropped their second consecutive district game with a 41-30 loss to Trinity Christian Academy last Friday. This shootout went back and forth all night until TCA pulled away in the fourth quarter.

The Friars' offense continued to show their ability to pass and run the ball with over 200 yards on the ground and in the air. Friar Nation also showed some innovation with a double pass to Cooper Alford on the first play of the game which set up Henry Nyhart's field goal.

After a Trojan touchdown making it 6-3 TCA, the Friars answered back with their longest offensive play of the year. Legend Howell found Ty Bradley for an 88-yard touchdown. Howell threw a perfect 40-yard pass and Bradley was able to outrun the Trojan defense to the endzone.

In the second quarter, when TCA had a 13-10 lead, Howell found Bradley once again for a touchdown, this time for 38-yards.

After TCA took the lead again in the second quarter, the Friar rushing offense took over. Godswill Giadolor rushed to the right for a 52-yard touchdown run, his first on the night. Later in the game, Giadolor would have a 50-yard touchdown run to give the Friars a 30-27 lead in the second half.

Giadolor finished with a season-high in carries (20) and rushing yards (178). He is now up to 680 yards on the season with five touchdowns.

Bradley finished the game with three catches, 138 yards and two touchdowns. Bradley now has four touchdowns with his last five receptions on the season.

Defensively, BL once again had some great individual performances on the defensive side of the ball. Colton Monroe finished with 15 total tackles, the third time he has had 15 or more tackles in a game this season. Sophomores Walt Nevitt and Drew Richardson each had great games as well. Nevitt finished with seven tackles and Richardson had five tackles, including a sack and two tackles for loss.

Henry Nyhart has continued his great season kicking the ball. He finished 3-3 on extra points and hit his only field goal attempt. He also had two punts with an average of 45 yards and had two kickoffs kicked out of the endzone.

Next Up: Bishop Lynch will host Prestonwood Christian Academy this Friday at 7:00 PM in Roffino Stadium. BL will be celebrating their seniors in the football, band, brigade and cheer programs.
