ABILENE - The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team traveled to face off against Cathedral out of El Paso in Saturday's TAPPS Bi-Regional playoff match-up. The Friars had a successful business trip, defeating the Irish 49-34 to advance to the Area playoff round.
Brice Davis had himself a day, scoring a game-high 22 points, with teammate
Logan Epes scoring 13. The first quarter was tight, as the Irish held a 13-12 lead, but the Friar defense would ramp up in the next two quarters, only allowing Cathedral to score a total of 11 points, including only three in the third.
Intense defense led to multiple fast-break points and easy buckets for the Friars. If the Friars weren't forcing turnovers, they were not letting anyone on Cathedral get good looks. The Irish had to force up difficult shots, which helped the Friars go up-tempo after the rebound.
UP NEXT: BL will travel to Midland to take on Midland Christian in the TAPPS Area Round. The game will be at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, February 22nd.
