MIDLAND - Bishop Lynch defeated Midland Christian 53-49 on Tuesday night in front of a wild Mustang crowd to advance to the regionals for the sixth consecutive year.

Brice Davis led the way again for the Friars, scoring 17 points in the contest. Sean Calloway had a breakout game, scoring 13 points but, more importantly, scoring 11 points in the second quarter. The Friars were down by four heading into the second quarter, but with Calloway's big second quarter, the Friars were able to go into halftime up 27-26.

The third quarter had the most significant momentum swing of the game, with multiple players making great defensive plays. Justin Lawrence was all over the ball, getting deflections and steals. Aidan Schnurr earned a charge, and numerous players got blocks. The third was also Davis's best quarter, as he scored eight of the Friars' 16 points. Grayson Bell also hit two big back-to-back threes in the quarter.

The Friars held an 11 point lead going into the fourth quarter, but they knew Midland Christian would fight back and make it a game. After chipping away at the BL's lead, the Mustangs had a shot to tie the score with under 10 seconds to go. On the game-tying three attempt by Midland, Brice Davis stretched his long arms and blocked the ball to secure the Friar victory.

Braxton Teal had a great game at point guard, finishing with 10 points. Logan Epes finished with seven while Bell finished with six.

Next Up: Bishop Lynch will take on Prestonwood Christian Academy in the TAPPS regionals on Saturday, February 26th at 5:30 PM at Prosper Rock Hill High School.
