FLOWER MOUND, TX -- The Bishop Lynch volleyball team played in the annual Marcus Showcase this past weekend. The field was filled with big 6A/5A UIL schools and the Friars held their own going 2-2 in their four games. They defeated Marcus and McKinney North while dropping games to McKinney and Frisco Reedy.

On Friday, the Friars played Frisco Reedy and the host's Marcus High School. They lost their first game to Frisco Reedy 3-1 despite being competitive in every set (24-26, 18-25, 25-11, 24-26). The team bounced back and took down Marcus for their only sweep of the weekend (25-22, 26-24, 25-19).

Saturday proved to be another great test for the Friars as they took on two schools from up north, McKinney North and McKinney. They opened up play against McKinney North where they took care of business in four sets winning 3-1 (26-24, 25-19, 22-15, 25-19). They continued that momentum into their game against a tough McKinney team. Both teams entered the match 4-1 on the season. The Friars came out and won the first set in a tight 25-23 contest to take the early lead. They unfortunately dropped the next three sets to lose 3-1.

Last Thursday, the Friars traveled down Peavy Road to take on Bryan Adams. All four teams played against our neighborhood rival and all four teams walked away with a sweep.

The Friars will travel to Allen High School to have a tri-match against Allen and Plano High School. Varsity will play Plano at 6:30 p.m and Allen at 8:00 p.m.
