PLANO, TX -- After a week off from playing 15 matches in seven days the Bishop Lynch volleyball team hit the court last night against tough non-district opponent Plano West. The Wolf Pack swept the Friars 3-0 despite the Friars having late leads in the second and third set.
The Friars fell behind in the first set due to Plano West's great start. They fought back from being down 20-16 to make it 21-20, but couldn't get over the hump and fell 25-21 in the first set.
In the second set, the Friars went back and forth with the Wolf Pack and found themselves in a 20-20 tie. Plano West was the team that found the late momentum and fought to a 25-21 set win.
The third set was the most heartbreaking for the Friars. BLVB was dominant and took a late 23-18 set lead. Plano West not only fought back to even the score at 23, but they scored the final seven points to take the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.
Overall the Friars played a great match.
Cate Hatfield led the team in kills with nine (.333 hitting %) while also adding 13 assists and six digs.
Delaney Moon was strong defensively as the senior recorded a team-high 17 digs.
Maddie Gappelberg had one of her best games of the season, as the senior setter had a team-high 17 assists.

SUB-VARSITY
JV1: The junior varsity team traveled to Plano last night and took down Plano West in straight sets. They are now 5-0 on the season.
Freshmen: The freshmen squad also traveled to Plano last night and lost in a three-set thriller to Plano West - Jasper. They are now 6-3 on the season.
NEXT UP:
The team will need to forget about this match and direct all their attention to district play. The Friars host their longtime rivals Ursuline Academy tomorrow, September 7th.
