Bishop Lynch secures crucial road win against Legacy Christian

FRISCO, TX --  The Bishop Lynch volleyball team (11-9, 1-1) traveled to Frisco and claimed a decisive 3-1 victory over Legacy Christian Academy (17-9-1, 0-2) in an important district match on Tuesday night. This win marks the Friars' first district triumph of the season as they took control against the TAPPS 6A newcomers.

"The team came out strong against a new district opponent in an unfamiliar atmosphere. Our middle hitters played a significant role in securing this important road win," said head coach Shea Jenkins

Bishop Lynch 3, Legacy Christian 1 (25-11, 25-22, 16-25, 25-18)

Match Highlights:
  • Bishop Lynch tallied 50 kills, marking just the third time this season the team has surpassed the 50+ kills and the first in a four-set match.
  • Junior middle blocker Maddie Pflum delivered a standout performance with a career-high 14 kills.
  • Daija Williams recorded 10 kills without a single hitting error, the most by any Friar this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1 | The Friars set the tone early, attacking aggressively to neutralize the home crowd. They produced one of their best offensive sets of the season, amassing 14 kills with a .355 hitting percentage. Pflum and Williams led the charge with four kills each, securing a commanding 25-11 win.

SET 2 | Despite the Eagles settling into their rhythm, Bishop Lynch maintained their offensive intensity, racking up 15 kills en route to a 25-22 victory. Aven Crosby contributed a team-high four kills and five digs to bolster the Friars' efforts.

SET 3 | Legacy Christian responded in the third set, refusing to be swept on their home court. Although the Eagles only hit .189 as a team, they collected 20 digs, frustrating the Friars and taking the set 25-16.

SET 4 | Early struggles in the fourth set saw the Friars fall behind 10-6. However, with Maia Raleigh serving, Bishop Lynch went on a key run and turned the deficit into a 14-11 lead. The team never relinquished control, thanks in part to Maddie Smotherman's match-high 17 digs. The Friars secured the set 25-18 and clinched the 3-1 victory.
