Bishop Lynch dances around Trinity Christian, first win homecoming game since 2021

DALLAS, TX --  Matias Leon and the Bishop Lynch offense exploded for 630 yards and nine touchdowns, leading the Friars to a 30-point homecoming victory over Trinity Christian Academy in front of a packed Roffino Stadium on Friday night.

With the victory, the Friars (5-3, 3-1) are enjoying their best district start since 2017, when they went undefeated at 7-0.

Leon threw for 237 yards, rushed for nearly 100, and recorded five touchdowns—his second five-touchdown outburst in four games. Gabe Nimmo led the rushing attack with a career-high 127 yards on just four carries including a 76-yard touchdown run. William Estes added 81 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown.

Defensively, Drew Richardson led the charge with a career-high 12 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble. Alec Salazar followed with eight tackles, and William Patterson added seven with 2.0 tackles for loss.

The first three quarters were complete domination, as the Friars jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter with touchdowns from Ty Bradley and Estes. Bradley's first-quarter touchdown gives the senior wideout eight on the season, including one in six consecutive games.

After trading touchdowns in the second quarter, the Friars executed a flawless two-minute drill capped by Leon's 6-yard strike to Aiden McGinnis with just one second left. The play sent them into halftime up 28-6.

McGinnis and Nick Payne added touchdowns in the third quarter, giving the Friars a comfortable 42-6 advantage heading into the last 12 minutes of the game.

The lopsided score at the start of the fourth quarter didn't prevent either offense from putting on a show, with both teams combining to score as many points as they had in the previous three quarters. With the game never in doubt, the Friars were finally able to get into victory formation to secure the 63-33 homecoming victory.
