DALLAS, TX --When the opposing team doesn't score any points in the second half of a basketball game, some would call that domination. That is exactly what Bishop Lynch did to Incarnate Word Academy yesterday in the Friars' 64-7 TAPPS Area playoff victory.

The Friars were clearly the better team yesterday and showed it from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer. Ten of the 11 Friars that played scored a basket and Mikah Ford led all scorers with 13 points.

The Falcons had made just one basket all game going 1-21 from the field, and the Friars forced 31 turnovers that resulted in 41 of their 64 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In TAPPS everyone makes the playoffs, and this can result in games like we saw yesterday. The Friars jumped out to a big 24-1 lead after the first quarter and didn't look back.

Even though Bishop Lynch had a big lead at the end of the first, it wasn't due to their shooting from the field (38%), it was their constant attack on the boards. The team had 13 offensive rebounds in just the first quarter. Londyn Perry had one of her best quarters in a Friar uniform as she finished with nine points, four steals, one assist, and one rebound.

The ladies shot much better in the second quarter, this time going 10-19 (53%) from the field. A big part of that was because of Ellery Sample, who scored all 10 of her points in the quarter on 5-8 shooting. This helped the Friars take a 44-7 halftime advantage.

The second half was spent most of the time on a running clock, leading to just 20 total points scored, all by the Friars. When the clock finally hit all zeros, the Friars found themselves one step closer to their mission with a 64-7 victory in the TAPPS Area Playoff round.

Bishop Lynch will host once again in the TAPPS Regional Playoff round. They will take on Concordia Lutheran on Friday, February 23 at 6:00 p.m. CT in the Competition Gym.
