Bishop Lynch vs. Bishop McGuinness: Game Preview & Information

| By:
Bishop Lynch High School (TAPPS 1-District 1) will travel to The Star in Frisco for the first time in program history as they will take on Bishop McGuinness (OSSAA District 5A-1) out of Oklahoma City in the fourth annual Catholic Bowl.

Get To Know Bishop McGuinness High School:
Founded: 1950 (Central Catholic High School)
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Colors: Green, Black, and White
Mascot: Fighting Irish
League: Oklahoma Secondary School Activates Association (OSSAA)
Division: 5A - District 1
Grades: 9-12
Enrollment: 703
2023 Record: 8-4, 4-2

History:
This is the first-ever meeting between Bishop Lynch and Bishop McGuinness in football. The varsity basketball teams played last season as the inaugural athletic event between the two schools.

Players to Watch:
Bishop Lynch:
#88: Ishmael Muhammad: In just one half of play last week, Muhammad touched the ball four times for 34 yards. He is a matchup nightmare and could come up with a couple of big plays to open up the Friar offense.

#28 Alec Salazar: Salazar may look undersized for safety, but the senior continues to play very sound football. In two games this season, Salazar has ten tackles and an interception. He is also inching closer to 100 career tackles, as he currently sits at 87.

Keys to the Game:
Bishop Lynch: The uncertainty of facing Bishop McGuinness could be a double-edged sword for the Friars. While they may not know exactly what to expect, the Irish won't either. It may sound basic, but if the Friars stay disciplined on both sides of the ball and avoid self-inflicted errors, Friar Nation could enjoy their first trip to The Star.
