Volleyball Sweeps TCA on Club Friar Night

DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch volleyball team defeated Trinity Christian Academy in straight sets on Tuesday, remaining perfect at home this season and extending their winning streak over the Lady Trojans to seven.

It was an action-packed evening as Bishop Lynch High School volleyball hosted kindergarten through eighth grade students for its annual Club Friar Night, and the Bishop Lynch Athletic Department honored Maddie Smotherman for her 1,500th career dig before the first serve.

We want to thank the Bishop Lynch Admissions Department for all their hard work to make it an excellent night for all the Club Friar attendees and their families.

Bishop Lynch 3, Trinity Christian 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-15)

Highlights
  • Senior Emma Poff recorded a career-high five aces in the win for the Friars. She has eight aces combined in the last two matches and currently leads the team with 25 on the season. 
  • Camila Figueroa saw her first career varsity action, finishing the match with one kill, one dig, and a block. 
  • With 17 assists in the match, Maia Raleigh surpassed the 250 mark, bringing her total to 252 assists on the year. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1 |  The first set was the Friars' best hitting set of the match as they recorded 15 kills with a .278 hitting percentage. Charlotte Well contributed four of her seven kills in this set, while teammates Kylie Love and Daija Williams each added three. 

SET 2 |  Maddie Pflum performed best in the second set, tallying four kills with a .667 hitting percentage and a block. Raleigh and Poff combined for ten assists in the set, with Poff also landing three of her five aces. 

SET 3 |  In the final set, Aven Crosby delivered four of her match-high eight kills. The senior captain has now recorded eight or more kills in back-to-back matches, a feat she hadn't achieved all season. Smotherman was also steady throughout the match, collecting seven digs in the third set alone. You can watch the match sealing point from Charlie Wells below. 
 
SUB-VARSITY
The Junior Varsity 1 team extended their winning streak to three matches after defeating Trinity Christian 2-0. Unfortunately, the freshman team did not fare as well, dropping their match 2-0. 

NEXT UP:
Bishop Lynch volleyball will host Parish Episcopal in their final non-district match next Tuesday, September 24. The first serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT.
