Bishop Lynch High School (TAPPS 1-District 1) will travel for the first time this season as they head west to face off against Midland Christian School (TAPPS 2-District 1) at 7:00 p.m. CT at Gordon Awtry Field.

History:
Bishop Lynch and Midland Christian have faced off seven previous times on the gridiron, most recently last season. The Friars hold a slight edge with four wins, but have dropped the previous two, including a 32-27 loss last season. The first time these two schools meet was in 2002 when the Friars won 38-25 in Midland.

Players to Watch:
Midland Christian:
#8 Avery Gordon: Gordon split time last week at quarterback and is the only offensive player returning from last year's contest. Last year he caught two passes for eight yards but this season he will be behind center. He has the ability to scramble as well so our defensive ends will need to set the edge well.

#12 Brady Young: Young was just a sophomore when he racked up 13 tackles against the Friars last season. This year he is a year older and stronger and that showed as he had 13 tackles in their week 1 matchup against Graham.

Bishop Lynch:
#6 Ty Bradley: What a start to the season for the wide-out. Bradley has been a staple in the Friar offense for three seasons and that continued against Dunne. Bradley now has 16 career touchdowns and averages nearly 20 yards per catch. Look for Bradley to be a deep threat on play action passes against the Mustangs.

#13 Weston Pomykal: It was great to see the senior play well last week at the linebacker position. Pomykal has three seasons of experience on varsity but has played three different positions (FS, TE, LB). Look for him to use his knowledge of the field to slow down the Mustang rushing attack.

Keys to the Game:
Midland Christian: The Mustangs did not find the endzone in week one as they have many new faces on that side of the ball. Their bread and butter is the rushing game as they rushed for 123 yards with a 4.2 average against Graham. If they can stay away from them turnover (two interceptions and a fumble in week 1) they will look to wear down the Friar front seven on Friday night much like they did against the Friars last season (207 rushing yards).

Bishop Lynch: The Friars showed great things in every aspect of the game last week and will need to remain crisp in this non-district matchup. If the offense and defensive line can once again control the line of scrimmage, good things will follow for the team from Dallas.
