Men's Soccer Shows Its Class, Wins the Hudson Invitational

LUFKIN, Texas -- The Bishop Lynch men's soccer team participated in its first tournament of the season at the Hudson Invitational, and it went nearly perfectly as they went 3-0 and outscored their opponents 18-0.

Ten Friars were able to find the back of the net, but none quite made the impact that Jack DeSmeth did as he led the way by scoring four times and adding two assists. Nik Bartkoski assisted on a team-high four goals in the tournament, with Aziel Moreno, Lucas Martinez, and DeSmeth each adding two assists.

Nate Nammari scored three goals during the tournament, shining in the finale against Corrigan-Camden with a hat trick—the first for the Friars this season.

Bishop Lynch is now 8-2-4 on the season, matching its win total from last year's team. In those eight wins, the Friars have scored 40 goals, 14 more than their total from last season.

The Friars return to district action this Thursday, Jan. 21, against Prestonwood Christian Academy. The match will be at home under the lights at Roffino Stadium at 7:15 p.m.
