Another Dominant Performance Leads to Friars' Tenth Win of the Season

PLANO, Texas — Six goals from four Friars proved too much for the Lions from Prestonwood Christian Academy as Bishop Lynch earned their tenth win of the season with a 6-0 victory on Thursday night.

Leticia Arellano opened the scoring early and often, with the junior forward netting the Friars' first two goals in the opening 20 minutes of the chilly evening. Her first goal came from a rebounded shot off the post by Serenity Collins, while the second was a near-post strike that the Prestonwood goalkeeper couldn't handle.

Near the end of the first half, the Friars' leading scorer, Bella Alamo, slipped a shot under the keeper to make it 3-0. She was set up by a well-placed through ball from Madison Murphy, creating an easy finish for Alamo. The Friars carried the 3-0 advantage into halftime.

The second half began with what could only be described as a blitzkrieg attack. Within the first 12 minutes, Bishop Lynch scored three more goals to extend their lead to 6-0. Ellis Kuntz, Alamo, and Murphy each added to the tally during the dominant stretch.

When the final whistle blew, the Friars had notched their eighth win of the season by four or more goals and recorded their eighth clean sheet. Bishop Lynch has outscored opponents 54-6 this season.

Bishop Lynch will return home to Roffino Stadium on Monday, Jan. 27, to host district opponent Legacy Christian Academy. Opening kick is scheduled for 5 p.m.
