Friars Fall to Parish, All Eyes Now on Playoffs

| By:
DALLAS – After a physical, back-and-forth first half, the Friars couldn't keep pace with Parish Episcopal last Friday night, falling 66-28 in the regular-season finale.

With the loss, Bishop Lynch finishes the regular season 5-5 overall and 3-3 in district play, earning the No. 4 seed in the district standings. As the fourth seed, the Friars will host an area playoff game against District 2's No. 5 seed, Central Catholic, this Friday, November 14, at 6:00 p.m. in Roffino Stadium.

The Friars hung tough against the district champion Panthers in the first half, trailing just 31-21 at the break. However, Parish took control in the third quarter, outscoring Bishop Lynch 28-0 to pull away for a 66-28 victory.

Matias Leon finished with 231 passing yards and three touchdowns for the home team. His favorite target once again was freshman Zack Williams, who hauled in nine catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. Senior Ishmael Muhammad turned in a career night on the ground, rushing for 177 yards on just seven carries and adding a score of his own.

Defensively, junior Hayes Bonds led the Friars for the first time in his career with eight tackles and one pass breakup. Mason Schopfer followed with seven tackles, including one for loss.
