Bishop Lynch Cruises Past Trojans to Advance to Regionals

ADDISON, Texas – The Bishop Lynch volleyball team overpowered Trinity Christian Academy on Tuesday night in a TAPPS Area Playoff matchup, sweeping the Trojans to advance to the regional round.

Setter Maia Raleigh was all over the court Tuesday night, filling up the stat sheet. The junior finished with 23 assists, nine digs, four aces, two kills, and two blocks. Kylie Love led the Friars in kills, tallying 12 on a .317 hitting percentage. Defensively, both Maddie Sue Pflum and Charlie Wells recorded three blocks, while Camila Figueroa anchored the back row with 12 digs.

Bishop Lynch 3, Trinity Christian 0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-19)

SET 1 | The Friars knew how important a fast start was to take the home crowd out of it early — and that's exactly what they did, jumping out to a 5-0 lead. After the Trojans fought back, Bishop Lynch relied on its strong service game to retake and expand the lead. The Friars had seven aces in the first set, including three from Katie Rebuck, whose third ace sealed the 25-12 opening win.

SET 2 | Once again, Bishop Lynch started hot in the second set. After a block from Charlie Wells and Camila Figueroa made it 15-10, TCA was forced to use its first timeout to try to slow the Friars' momentum. The timeout had the opposite effect, as Bishop Lynch extended its lead to 20-13 following a Raleigh kill, forcing the Trojans to burn their final timeout. Emory Mooney capped off the set with her fourth kill to give the Friars the 25-18 win and a commanding 2-0 lead.

SET 3 | In what turned out to be the final nail in the coffin, the Friars controlled the third set from start to finish. Back-to-back aces from Raleigh made it 16-9, and Love put the match away with her 10th, 11th, and 12th kills down the stretch to secure the 25-19 set win — and the 3-0 sweep.

TEAM QUOTES

Charlie Wells on her mindset going into the match...

"Going into the match, our mindset was to stay focused and play with confidence. We knew TCA would be a tough opponent, so our goal was to match their intensity and maintain our energy throughout all three sets. I wanted to make a strong impact at the net by being aggressive and reading their hitters well, which helped me get those blocks and kills. Overall, I think our teamwork and communication really stood out tonight—everyone contributed, and that makes the win even more special as we move into the second round of playoffs."

Maia Raleigh on what was working for her and the team...

"I think what really worked for me and my team was being able to play clean volleyball. We didn't need to worry about what was happening on the other side—only about what we could control. We played with so much fire, and knowing it's the playoffs lit something in our team. It starts with our serving and passing, and we were very strong in both, which allowed us to dictate the game from behind the line. I am really proud of our team tonight and can't wait for Thursday!"

Head Coach Shea Jenkins on how his team handled their business on the road...

"The girls stayed focused and showed real grit, handling a tough road environment with composure and confidence. They played their game and earned a big win when it mattered most."
