Cole’s Second-Half Equalizer Helps Friars Earn Draw in Season Opener

DALLAS – The Bishop Lynch women's soccer team opened its 2025–26 campaign on the road and earned a 1–1 draw against Parish Episcopal. Senior Kaci Cole provided the heroics with a second-half equalizer after the Friars trailed 1–0 at halftime.

Goals (Assists)
31' – Parish Episcopal – Camden Henard
55' – Bishop Lynch – Kaci Cole (Emma Soignier)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

This match didn't lack excitement despite ending in a 1–1 draw. The two teams combined for 32 total shots, with 10 on target. The Friars controlled possession 52–48 in the first half and outshot the Panthers 8–7, but none of their attempts found the frame. Parish capitalized on its lone shot on goal late in the half to take a 1–0 lead.

In the second half, Bishop Lynch increased its attacking pressure, putting five of its nine shots on target. Four different Friars threatened to score, but Cole broke through in the 55th minute with a composed finish into the bottom-right corner. Emma Soignier delivered a perfectly timed through ball to split the Panther defense, setting up Cole for her first career goal.

First-year goalkeeper Brianna Rosales came up big late, making three crucial saves on free kicks from Parish to preserve the draw for the Friars.

MATCH NOTES:
  • Cole's goal was the first of her Bishop Lynch career.
  • The Friars improved to 6–3–1 against Parish since 2020.
  • Bishop Lynch has not lost a season-opener since 2023.

COACHES CORNER

Head Coach Michael Dawdy on the Friars' first match with several new faces...

"The first of many against a quality opponent. We didn't win and we didn't lose, but we learned where we need to be better. With many new faces, that's all part of the process. We'll keep building toward our potential."

NEXT UP:
The Friars return to the pitch tonight, November 6, for their 2025–26 home opener against Home School Athletic Association at Roffino Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
