Football Earns 15 Honors From All-District Meetings

| By:
DALLAS — The TAPPS Division I Regional Finalist Bishop Lynch football team was well-represented on the 2025 All-District Football Team, earning 15 total selections as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Freshman phenom Zach Williams was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-District at wide receiver after a record-shattering debut season in the Black & White.

Williams was the lone offensive player to earn First Team honors, while Diego Chavez, Matias Leon, and Ishmael Muhammad collected Second Team All-District selections. Akani Cruz Berrios, Nick Payne, and Ethan Perkins rounded out the offensive awards with Honorable Mention nods.

Defensively, Ethan Perkins and Asher Wheatley each earned First Team All-District honors. Stephen Kilany and Nick Payne added Second Team recognition, while Alex Finley, Luke Hammonds, and Mason Schopfer secured Honorable Mention honors.

Zach Williams burst onto the Texas high school football scene in historic fashion. The freshman shattered the Bishop Lynch single-season records for receiving yards (1,322) and receptions (88) and tied the program's single-season receiving touchdown mark (14). He also added two kickoff-return touchdowns and one rushing touchdown to his résumé.

A cornerstone of the Friar offensive line since arriving on campus, the senior captain anchored a unit that powered Bishop Lynch to averages of 249 yards passing, 162 yards rushing, and 35 points per game. Primarily the starting center, Chavez moved wherever he was needed to stabilize the offense.

Matias Leon — Second Team
Leon delivered one of the greatest quarterback seasons in school history. The senior broke the Bishop Lynch single-season passing record with 2,968 yards, tossing 32 touchdowns while adding 269 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.

Despite missing time due to injury, the junior transfer from Plano led the Friars in rushing with 906 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 6.5 yards per carry.

Nick Payne — Honorable Mention
A dynamic offensive weapon, Payne ranked second on the team in receiving yards (586) and touchdowns (10), and third in receptions (38). He also added 71 rushing yards.
