Bishop Lynch Makes Statement with Blowout Win Over John Paul II

PLANO, Texas –  Friday night marked the final regular-season game for the Bishop Lynch men's basketball team, and the Friars aimed to accomplish two feats they hadn't achieved since the 2018-19 season: defeating John Paul II on the road and securing at least a share of the district championship. When the lights were brightest, the Friars delivered, defeating the Cardinals 80-54 and gaining momentum as they head into the playoffs next week.

Jagan Thomas had a career night in a Friars uniform, recording his second career double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Jeremiah Williams contributed 18 points and seven assists, while Nathan Day added 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Getting off to a fast start is critical in a district road game, and Bishop Lynch did just that. Led by 12 points from Williams, the Friars raced to a 29-9 lead after the first quarter. They shot an impressive 11-of-19 from the field in the opening period, silencing the home crowd and setting the tone for the night.

Bishop Lynch cooled off slightly after the first quarter but still finished shooting 45.3% from the field. Defensively, the Friars never let the Cardinals mount a comeback, holding them to 36.8% shooting from the field and just 19.2% from beyond the arc.

With the dominant victory, Bishop Lynch heads into the postseason with confidence and momentum, looking to build on their success in the playoffs.
