Friars Finish 3-1 at Showcase, Winning Two Five-Set Thrillers

ARGYLE, Texas  — The Bishop Lynch volleyball team competed in the first of two regular-season tournaments this past weekend at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Showcase. After splitting Friday's matches, the Friars won back-to-back five-set thrillers over Frisco and Frisco Reedy on Saturday to finish the showcase 3-1.

Raleigh earned All-Tournament recognition for her standout play, while several Friars recorded career-best performances across the two-day event.

Friday vs. Richland - Full Box Score
Bishop Lynch opened the showcase with a sweep of Richland, 25-17, 25-23, 25-8. Camila Figueroa led the team with 14 kills on a .481 hitting percentage, while Maddie Sue Pflum and Kylie Love each added eight. 

Friday vs. Hebron - Full Box Score
Against the Dallas Morning News'  No. 7-ranked 6A program, the Friars battled through two competitive sets before falling 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-13). Figueroa once again led the offense with 11 kills, while Charlie Wells turned in her best match of the season with eight kills, no errors, and a .571 hitting percentage. 

Saturday vs. Frisco - Full Box Score
After dropping the first two sets, Bishop Lynch stormed back for a 3-2 comeback win over Frisco (21-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-17, 15-10). Love delivered the best match of her career, finishing with personal bests in kills (21) and digs (15). Raleigh and Figueroa both notched double-doubles, with Raleigh recording a career-high 45 assists along with 13 digs, while Figueroa posted 10 kills and 20 digs.
 
Saturday vs. Frisco Reedy - Full Box Score
The Friars closed the weekend with another five-set victory, this time outlasting Frisco Reedy 3-2 (22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 13-25, 15-9). Pflum was a force on both sides of the net, finishing with eight kills and a team-high four blocks. As a team, Bishop Lynch tallied 10 blocks to slow the Lions' attack and secure their third win of the showcase. 

NEXT UP:
The Friars return to action tomorrow, Aug. 19, in the annual Battle of Peavy against Bryan Adams. Varsity is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
