Friars Impress at the Allen Texas Open

ALLEN, Texas — The Bishop Lynch volleyball team impressed this past weekend at the annual Allen Texas Open, standing out as the only TAPPS 6A-Division I program to reach the championship bracket. Out of 32 teams in the field, the Friars were one of 16 to advance to the top bracket and one of just seven squads to sweep all three pool-play matches on Friday.

The Friars (8-3) didn't drop a set on Friars with 2-0 sweeps over The Colony (4-9), Richardson (10-8), and Frisco Memorial (10-5). In Saturday's Championship Bracket, Bishop Lynch battled tough opponents but fell 2-0 to McKinney Boyd (8-8) and 2-1 to Frisco Centennial (13-5).

With their 3-2 showing at the prestigious tournament, the Friars improved to 8-3 overall — their best record through 11 matches since 2018, when they finished 28-12. Before Saturday's matches, Bishop Lynch had strung together a six-match winning streak, the program's longest since 2022.
