Bishop Lynch Continues Hot Start With Sweep Over Martin

DALLAS — Bishop Lynch's all-around team play fueled the Friars' (9-3) sweep over Arlington Martin (3-15) on Tuesday evening in the Competition Gym.

Bishop Lynch 3, Arlington Martin 0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-19)

Match Highlights:
  • Camila Figueroa reached 100 kills on the season
  • Maia Raleigh recorded her eighth match this year with 20 or more assists
  • Friars posted eight blocks, the second most in a match this season
  • Friars had zero ball-handling errors, their third error-free performance this season

The match began in stark contrast to how it ended, as Martin jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead before much of Friar Nation had settled into the stands. In past seasons, such a start may have rattled the team, but this year's captains — Maddie Sue Pflum, Raleigh, Kylie Love, and Charlie Wells — regrouped and quickly reset the Friars back into rhythm.

Figueroa was instrumental in the comeback, delivering seven of her team-high 13 kills in the opening set. The junior was flawless, committing no hitting errors during the stretch.

After surviving the thrilling 25-23 win in the first set, the Friars took control by limiting mistakes and leaning on strong defensive play. As a team, Bishop Lynch hit .276, marking their fifth match of the season hitting .275 or better — a feat they accomplished only twice last year.

Defensively, the effort was a full team contribution. Four Friars recorded at least seven digs, while Pflum and Emory Mooney each added five blocks at the net.

STAT LEADERS
Kills – Camila Figueroa – 13
Hitting Percentage (Min. 10 Attempts) – Camila Figueroa – .393
Assists – Maia Raleigh – 23
Aces – Maia Raleigh & Kylie Love – 3
Digs – Kylie Love – 8
Blocks – Maddie Sue Pflum & Emory Mooney – 8

  • Junior Varsity 2: Defeated Martin 2-0, including a 25-0 win in the first set.
  • Freshman: Won the most exciting match of the night, edging Martin 2-1 in a back-and-forth battle.
