Friars Place Fourth at Arete Cup; Raleigh, Rebuck Earn All-Tournament Honors

McKINNEY, Texas — The Bishop Lynch volleyball team turned in another strong tournament performance over the weekend, finishing fourth out of 23 schools at the Arete Cup. Much like their showing at the Texas Open in Allen a week earlier, the Friars won their pool Friday to advance to Saturday's gold bracket.

The Friars (14-6) secured their pool by defeating Frisco Emerson (7-12), Mesquite Horn (2-10), and Denton Guyer (10-9). Bishop Lynch swept Horn in straight sets, while both the Emerson and Guyer matches went the distance in exciting 2-1 victories.

On Saturday, BL opened bracket play with a narrow three-set loss to eventual runner-up Walnut Grove (18-6). The Friars bounced back with a sweep of Sunnyvale (22-3) before closing the tournament with losses to champion Frisco Liberty (16-3) and Plano (17-5).

The weekend also featured a career milestone: with Friday's win over Emerson, head coach Shea Jenkins became just the second volleyball coach in Bishop Lynch history to reach 100 career victories.

Arete Cup Stat Leaders
Raleigh and Rebuck both earned All-Tournament honors for their performances.
