Friars Win Fifth Straight Heading into District Play

DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team continued its momentum heading into district play, earning its fifth straight win with a commanding 65-34 victory over Memorial last Friday night in the Competition Gym. Jeremiah Williams recorded his fifth 30-point performance of the season, finishing with 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead the Friars.

Ford Stuart was inserted into the starting lineup shortly before tipoff and made the most of his opportunity. The senior tied his season high with seven points while adding four rebounds and two blocks. Stuart continues to anchor the Friars defensively, leading the team with 24 blocks on the season.

Defensively, Bishop Lynch set the tone from the opening tip, forcing 22 Memorial turnovers, including 12 steals by the Friars. Williams and Jagan Thomas each recorded four steals, as Bishop Lynch converted those turnovers into 15 points on the offensive end.

POSTGAME NOTES
  • Friday marked the first-ever meeting between Bishop Lynch and Memorial, giving the Friars a 1-0 edge in the all-time series.
  • Bishop Lynch improves to 19-11 on the season. The 19 wins prior to district play are the most since the 2018-19 season.
  • Williams recorded his eighth career 30-point game, with five of those coming this season.
  • The Friars' starting lineup featured Luke Nimmo, Jeremiah Williams, Kemp Dunsavage, Ford Stuart, and Jagan Thomas.
     
NEXT UP:
Bishop Lynch opens district play tomorrow, January 13, as the Friars travel to Plano to face Prestonwood Christian Academy. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the PCA Athletic Complex. The Lions enter the matchup 11-13 on the season and opened district play with a 61-44 win over Legacy Christian last Friday.
