Billotte Leads Friars to District-Opening Win Over Ursuline

DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch women's basketball team couldn't have drawn up a better start to district play, as the Friars rolled past rival Ursuline Academy, 47-20, last Friday night in the Jane Neuhoff Athletic Center. With the win, Bishop Lynch improves to 15-12 (1-0) on the season.

Avery Billotte continued her torrid shooting stretch, leading all scorers with 16 points while knocking down four three-pointers. The junior guard set the tone early and helped the Friars build a comfortable lead they never relinquished.

Defense was the story of the night for the Black & White. Bishop Lynch forced 17 Ursuline turnovers and held the Bears to just 8-of-44 shooting (18.2%) from the field. Fre Vowels and Lily Reyes each recorded three steals, as the Friars turned defense into offense, outscoring Ursuline 19-7 in points off turnovers.

Although she finished with just seven points, Vowels impacted the game in nearly every facet. The senior led the team with three assists, pulled down a season-high five rebounds, and added three steals and five deflections.

Eleanor Prosser contributed seven points and four rebounds, while Kate Webb was a force on the glass with eight rebounds to go along with six points.
