Friars Open District Play with Statement Shutout

DALLAS — After scoring just three goals across their previous five matches, the Bishop Lynch women's soccer team erupted offensively on Thursday night. The Friars broke out in a big way, rolling to a 6-0 victory over Legacy Christian at Roffino Stadium to open district play in emphatic fashion.

Sophomore Sofia Hooks led the charge, recording the first multi-goal performance of her career. Leticia Arellano, Stella Molina, and Anjali Mascarenhas also found the back of the net for the first time this season as Bishop Lynch delivered its most complete performance of the year.

Goals (Assists)
8' Bishop Lynch — Leticia Arellano (Madison Murphy)
19' Bishop Lynch — Sofia Hooks (Kat Williamson)
31' Bishop Lynch — Sofia Hooks (Emma Soignier
36' Bishop Lynch — Madison Murphy (Rhye Pfeil)
61' Bishop Lynch — Stella Molina (Leticia Arellano)
70' Bishop Lynch — Anjali Mascarenhas (Madison Murphy)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bishop Lynch wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, striking in the eighth minute when Leticia Arellano cleaned up a rebound following a dangerous header from Madison Murphy to make it 1-0.

That early goal opened the floodgates. Hooks took over shortly after, scoring twice in a 12-minute span to push the Friar advantage to 3-0 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

Just before halftime, Murphy added her fifth goal of the season to cap a dominant opening 40 minutes and send the Friars into the break with a 4–0 lead.

The second half brought a more methodical approach from Bishop Lynch, but the goals kept coming. Stella Molina capitalized on a rebound to score her first varsity goal in the 61st minute, and Anjali Mascarenhas put the finishing touch on the night with a composed finish near the post to make it 6-0, the final score.
