DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team opened postseason play with authority Tuesday night, defeating Liberty Christian School 75-54 in the TAPPS Area Round inside the Competition Gym.

The Friars imposed their will physically from the start, outrebounding the Warriors 35-25 and outscoring them 32-22 in the paint.

Four Friars reached double figures, led by a dominant 31-point performance from Jeremiah Williams. Luke Nimmo added 12 points, while Jagan Thomas finished with 11, and Kemp Dunsavage chipped in 10 in a balanced offensive attack.

Liberty Christian held a narrow 16-14 lead after the first quarter, but Bishop Lynch responded with defensive intensity in the second. The Friars limited the Warriors to 1-of-6 shooting (16.7%) in the quarter and just seven total points, taking a 31-23 advantage into halftime.

The offense took over in the second half for the team in white.

Bishop Lynch shot a blistering 13-of-19 (68.4%) from the field after the break, pouring in 44 second-half points to pull away. The Warriors attempted a late push with four fourth-quarter three-pointers, but Williams answered with 10 points in the final frame to extinguish any comeback hopes.

POSTGAME NOTES

Bishop Lynch improves to 18-8 against Liberty Christian School since the 2010-11 season and has now won 13 straight in the series.
The Friars have won their TAPPS Area Round playoff game in nine consecutive seasons.
The starting lineup featured Ishmael Muhammad, Luke Nimmo, Jeremiah Williams, Kemp Dunsavage, and Jagan Thomas.

NEXT UP
For the third straight season, Bishop Lynch will face Parish Episcopal School in the TAPPS Regional Round. The Friars travel to Panther Gym on Saturday, February 21, with a trip to the TAPPS State Tournament on the line. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
