Playoff Victory Sets Up Regional Showdown with Rival

DALLAS — Despite a difficult shooting night, the Bishop Lynch women's basketball team relied on defense and determination to defeat Parish Episcopal School 44-31 in the TAPPS Area Round on Tuesday night in the Competition Gym.

On a night when the Friars shot just 22.4% from the field, Eleanor Prosser imposed her presence inside, recording her second career double-double with a team-high 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Bishop Lynch trailed 10-9 after the opening quarter, but the Friars responded with championship-level defense in the second. They held the Panthers scoreless and forced 10 turnovers in the period, turning a deficit into a 21-10 halftime advantage.

The Friars steadily extended their lead in the second half behind Prosser, Fre Vowels, and Harper Alcantar, who combined to score 21 of Bishop Lynch's 23 points after the break. Vowels and Alcantar each finished with 10 points to support the playoff victory.

Bishop Lynch will host rival Ursuline Academy in the TAPPS Regional Round on Friday, February 20. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the Competition Gym. This will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season, with the Friars holding a 2-1 edge.
