Freshmen Shine as Bishop Lynch Advances to TAPPS Semfinals

DALLAS — Freshmen Harper Alcantar and Eleanor Prosser delivered poised performances in front of Friar Nation on Friday night, leading Bishop Lynch to a 49-45 victory over rival Ursuline Academy in the Competition Gym to advance to the TAPPS 6A Semifinals. Alcantar led the Friars with 12 points, while Prosser added 11 as Bishop Lynch edged the Bears in a tightly contested battle.

Through two playoff games, the Friars have shot just 26.1% from the field, but their swarming defense and relentless work on the glass have defined their postseason run. Bishop Lynch has limited Parish and Ursuline to just 37 points per game while collecting 30 offensive rebounds.

Ursuline took an early 14-13 lead after the first quarter, and the teams entered halftime tied at 22. Alcantar and Prosser accounted for 15 of the Friars' first-half points while adding five rebounds, two steals, and an assist.

The third quarter proved decisive. After Ursuline reclaimed a 24-22 advantage, Prosser buried a corner three-pointer to put Bishop Lynch back in front. A few minutes later, Avery Billotte knocked down a deep three to extend the Friars' lead to 34-27 and swing momentum toward the home side.

Bishop Lynch carried a 36-32 lead into the fourth quarter, where upperclassmen leadership sealed the win. Fre Vowels and Billotte combined for eight points, three rebounds, and two assists in the final frame as the Friars held off the late push to secure the four-point victory.

Ciara Osuji made a major impact after being inserted into the starting lineup. The senior recorded a team-high seven rebounds while adding five points, three assists, and four steals.

Bishop Lynch will travel to Waco to face Prestonwood Christian Academy in the TAPPS 6A Semifinals on Thursday, February 26 at University High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
