With their 10th win of the season, Bishop Lynch (10-3-4) advanced to the TAPPS Regional Round while extending its streak to six consecutive Area Championships — including all five seasons under head coach Michael Dawdy.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Friars were powered by underclassmen Sofia Hooks and Mila Van Loggerenberg. Van Loggerenberg recorded her first career hat trick — including the match-winner — and added an assist, while Hooks scored twice and assisted on three more goals.

Senior captain Madison Murphy opened the scoring just three minutes in, finishing a setup from Hooks. Nine minutes later, Murphy returned the favor, assisting Van Loggerenberg to make it 2-0.

After the Warriors cut the deficit to 2-1, Murphy quickly responded with what may have been the goal of the night. Serenity Collins delivered a pinpoint cross into the box, where Murphy buried a header into the lower-left corner to restore the two-goal advantage.

The Friars then broke the match open during a dominant 16-minute stretch. Arellano scored her second goal of the season off a rebound created by Hooks before Hooks added back-to-back goals within six minutes, assisted by Ana Julia Kessler and Van Loggerenberg, pushing the lead to 6-1.

Just before halftime, Van Loggerenberg rocketed a shot past the keeper to send the Friars into the break with a commanding 7-1 lead.

In the second half, Van Loggerenberg completed her hat trick off another Murphy assist, bringing her season total to eight goals.

The loudest moment of the night came in the final minutes when senior captain Iyana Axson struck with her right foot for her first career goal, capping the 9-1 victory.
