WAXAHACHIE — The Bishop Lynch cross country teams showed significant improvement in their second meet of the 2026 season, despite still competing without their full rosters, at the Woodhouse Invitational on Saturday. The varsity women finished third overall, while the men placed fourth, led by a record-setting performance from senior Harman Pope.

Pope finished eighth in the varsity men's elite race, completing the 5K in 15:13. His time shattered his previous personal best of 16:03 and improved his own Bishop Lynch school record by nearly a minute. The senior's performance highlighted another strong day for the Friars as both teams improved upon their season-opening results.

Women's Team Highlights
The varsity women were led by Natalia Vega, who finished 14th overall with a time of 14:14.9. Vega's performance helped Bishop Lynch score 85 points and finish third as a team. The Friars also finished ahead of fellow TAPPS program Concordia Lutheran to earn the bronze-medal finish.

Men's Team Highlights
The men placed fourth overall, with two Friars finishing inside the top 11. Landry Rose recorded his first top-10 finish of the season, completing the 5K in 18:34.4 to place eighth. Teammate Baxter Givens followed closely behind, finishing 11th with a time of 18:43.6. The Friars also finished ahead of Concordia Lutheran, while John Paul II earned the team runner-up finish.

NEXT UP:
The Friars return to action Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Tyler Legacy Invitational at Lindsey Park. The first race is scheduled for 7 a.m.
