DALLAS — The Battle of Peavy once again belongs to the Black & White. For the fifth consecutive season, the Bishop Lynch volleyball team defeated Bryan Adams, earning a 3-1 victory Tuesday night in the Bryan Adams Main Gym. The win extended the Friars' winning streak to four matches and provided valuable varsity experience for several younger players.
Bishop Lynch 3, Bryan Adams 1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-8, 25-11)
With a different lineup taking the court for much of the match, several Friars took advantage of the opportunity to set new career highs. Kate Heffernan led the way with 14 kills, while Maddie Pope recorded seven and Megan O'Grady added four, all career highs. Vivian Brown also turned in a career-best performance from the service line, recording three aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | With a new starting lineup taking the court, the opening set was tightly contested from start to finish. Heffernan led the Friars with three kills, while Pope added two kills and three digs as Bishop Lynch held on for a 25-23 victory.
SET 2 | The second set followed a similar script, with neither team able to create much separation. This time, Bryan Adams came out on top, taking the set 25-23 to even the match at one set apiece. Pope continued her strong play with five kills and six digs, both team highs in the set, while Suzanne Hughes and Brown each contributed three assists.
SET 3 | The momentum shifted quickly when the Friars put some of their more familiar faces back on the court. Bishop Lynch dominated from the opening serve, hitting .625 as a team on the way to a 25-8 victory and a 2-1 lead in the match. Love led the offensive attack with six kills, while Heffernan and Charlie Wells each added three. The Friars also recorded five aces in the set.
SET 4 | Bishop Lynch carried that momentum into the final set, hitting .471 as a team to close out the match. Heffernan and Love each recorded five kills, while O'Grady and Wells added three apiece. Camila Figueroa contributed two kills as the Friars closed out the 25-11 victory and secured their fifth consecutive Battle of Peavy win.
