Friars Sweep Trojans, Remain Undefeated at Home

DALLAS — In a rematch of last season's TAPPS 6A Area Round, the Bishop Lynch volleyball team once again swept Trinity Christian Academy, earning a 3-0 victory Tuesday night in the Competition Gym. The Friars (17-6) controlled the match from start to finish and remained undefeated at home this season with another strong performance in front of Friar Nation.

Trinity Christian 0, Bishop Lynch 3 (25-16, 25-21, 25-13)

Bishop Lynch controlled the match from the opening serve, holding advantages in kills, hitting percentage, blocks, and assists. Charlie Wells was one of the Friars' most impactful players, as the senior middle recorded seven kills, two aces, and two blocks. Camila Figueroa matched Wells with seven kills while leading the Friars defensively with a team-high 11 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1
 | The Friars got off to a hot start thanks in large part to Figueroa, who recorded four of her seven kills in the opening set. Bishop Lynch consistently fed the senior outside hitter, as she led the team with 16 attempts. Maia Raleigh and Suzanne Hughes directed the offense with four and two assists, respectively, while the setting duo combined for two aces to help Bishop Lynch take the opening set, 25-16.

SET 2 | The Bishop Lynch middles took over in the second set, with Wells and Kate Heffernan each recording four kills. The duo combined to hit .538 in the set, while Raleigh turned in her best setting performance of the night with 12 assists. Figueroa continued to control the back row, recording six of her 11 digs in the set as the Friars took a 25-21 victory and moved within one set of the sweep.

SET 3 | The third and final set belonged to the Friars at the service line. Bishop Lynch recorded four aces in the set, with Wells contributing two and Maddie Pope and Megan O'Grady each adding one. O'Grady's ace came on the match's final point to seal the sweep. Emory Mooney, Wells, and Figueroa each added two kills as the Friars closed out the match with a 25-13 victory.
