DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch swim teams traveled to the Davis A. Segal Family Aquatic Center on Tuesday evening for a tri-meet against Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and Ursuline Academy. The women's team remained undefeated with a 100.5-69.5 victory over the Bears, while the men's team fell to the host Rangers 139-36.
The meet featured several standout performances from both Bishop Lynch teams, led by junior Grier Beeson, who set a new pool record in the 100-yard backstroke. Beeson won the event with a time of 58.53, surpassing the previous Davis A. Segal Family Aquatic Center record set by Highland Park's Angelina Huang in 2022.
Beeson finished the night with four first-place finishes in four events. She swam the backstroke leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay and anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team that closed the meet with a victory. Individually, she also earned gold in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Senior captain Ella Whitney also made an impressive season debut, earning first place in all four of her events. Whitney swam the butterfly leg of the 200-yard medley relay and the anchor leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay. In her individual events, she edged out her sister, Sophia Whitney, to win the 200-yard individual medley before leading a Bishop Lynch podium sweep in the 100-yard butterfly.
Despite being outnumbered, the men's team continued to compete against Jesuit, with senior Rush Trent leading the way. Trent earned first-place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Miller Mayer added a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Holt Harmon placed third in the 100-yard backstroke.
