The freshman Friars won two of three at the Lovejoy Tournament last week, capturing third place in the event.

The team opened with a 40-20 win over the host school, building leads of 9-5, 22-11 and 31-20 before blanking Lovejoy in the final frame.

The Friars suffered a setback against Rockwall-Heath in their second game, falling behind early before falling short of a comeback, 53-46.

The team fell behind 12-6 after one and 22-12 at the half, but rallied to get within 28-26 entering the final period.

BL finished the tournament with a 57-25 rout of Eaton in the third-place game with leads of 18-9, 28-16 and 41-25 before posting a 16-0 advantage in the fourth.

Freshman coach Cody Norris praised the way his team bounced back to bring home some hardware.

"The boys responded well after the tough loss to Heath and played their nest game of the season," Norris said. "They caught fire with nine 3-point shots and held Eaton scoreless in the fourth quarter."
